Project Risk Bars: Bubble Chart Pro™ V.6 (Preview 1)

Posted on Jan 22, 2015 by George F Huhn
Projects rarely finish exactly on-budget or on-time, which is why it is important to be able see a range of different scenarios for your project portfolio relative to the risks associated with each project. In the upcoming Version 6 edition of Bubble Chart Pro, you’ll be able to do just that. Instead of seeing only single values for your project metrics such as cost, ROI, and resources, you’ll be able to see “Likely,” “Best,” and “Worst” values for each project metric. This way, you’ll be able to understand and present the range of possible outcomes for each project. Furthermore, with the SMART prioritizer in Bubble Chart Pro PLUS, the overall value score for each data point is calculated automatically, so you can see and compare the value score spread for each project. If you’re managing a portfolio of projects, you can easily see how valuable this perspective is. Instead of the impossible task of trying to manage your project portfolio to meet single number targets, you’ll be able to manage them to within target ranges. This is a much better way for you to predict and control project outcomes in project portfolio management. Like all the bubble charts in Bubble Chart Pro, the bubble charts are highly customizable. The risk bar display can be toggled “On” and “Off” using a check box, and you can set the default color and width of the bars in the Preferences form. In addition, you can turn it into a scatter chart by simply checking another check box.
