Bubble charts or bubble graphs are extremely useful graphs for comparing the relationships between data objects in 3 numeric-data dimensions: the X-axis data, the Y-axis data, and data represented by the bubble size. Essentially, bubble charts are like XY scatter graphs except that each point on the scatter graph has an additional data value associated with it that is represented by the size of a circle or “bubble” centered around the XY point.
Excel is good at making scatter charts with a series of data, and then adding a third variable to vary the size of the bubble in the series. It is not good at creating bubble charts like the kind that Bubble Chart Pro creates, where each bubble represents a single discrete project represented by a unique color-pattern combination.
Bubble Chart Pro has been designed as a decision support tool, and is great for business leaders and teams to both visualize and drill-down into the data. With Excel, you don't get the high-performance interactivity such as the ability to drag and drop the bubbles to change the data, the ability to open projects directly from the chart, zoom boxes, and easy customization.
And with Bubble Chart Pro PLUS, you get an easy-to-use built-in SMART prioritization engine of the type that you'd expect to find in software costing thousands of dollars more.
No, it isn’t immediately intuitive to most people, but it is easy to learn and use.
Bubble Chart Pro is not a spreadsheet application or a slide presentation application or other commonly-used application that people are generally familiar with. Bubble Chart Pro is a database-driven application specifically designed to perform some powerful business analyses, such as strategic project prioritization and optimization, quickly and easily.
These analyses aren't generally intuitive to most people.
So even if Bubble Chart Pro isn’t immediately “intuitive” to you, you will find it easy to learn if you just take a few minutes to scan the Quick Start Guide to learn how to create a portfolio, how to enter projects, and how to make a bubble chart.
If you get stuck, each form has a yellow help button in the lower left corner. Simply click on that button to open a detailed description of the form and its functions in your web browser.
If you take the small amount of time necessary to learn how to use Bubble Chart Pro, you will quickly find it to be an indispensable tool for saving time and money in your business, just like our many satisified business customers have.
Bubble Chart Pro makes importing and exporting really easy. You can set the bubble size to be proportional to the data using either the radius or the area. In Bubble Chart Pro, the default relationship is that the data has a linear relationship to bubble area. However, making the bubble area proportional to the radius so that it has an exponential relationship is an option in the preferences. Either way, the relationship being used is clearly displayed at the bottom of the chart.
